This is a topic that many men find uncomfortable or controversial. People are uncomfortable because there is a lot of pressure for a guy to be straight or heterosexual. People sometimes are afraid of homosexuals or of being homosexual. A person who is gay or homosexual is attracted to a person of the same sex. So, for guys, being gay would mean that they find other guys romantically or sexually attractive. Bisexuality means that a person finds both men and women attractive. People who are questioning are those who wonder if they are homosexual, bisexual or heterosexual.
Some people believe that being gay or bisexual is bad or sick. Scientists know that figuring out whether you're gay, bisexual, or straight is part of a person's normal and healthy sexual development. Some people are gay, some are bisexual and some are straight. The important thing to remember is that, whether you are straight, gay, or bisexual, you are normal. Regardless of your sexual orientation, if you are sexually active remember to protect yourself from STDs by using condoms.
It is also important to remember that you should never harm or harass someone because of their sexual orientation. If you or someone you know are the victim of harassment or violence, it is important to report this to the authorities immediately.
If you know someone who is gay, bisexual, or questioning, remember to be respectful and supportive. Being heterosexual does not make you more of a man, so don’t treat homosexuals like they’re less than someone else.
If you are questioning, know someone who is, or if you have other concerns, call a friend, a trusted family member, or a counselor.
